WILLIAMSON, Arthur Reginald

Arthur Reginald Williamson was born in 1891, to Chemist-shop keeper, Joseph Burrell Williamson, and his wife Isabella. His brother, James Burrell, also attended the High School and served in the war. He attended the High School from 1899 to 1907, and left to go into engineering. Around 1910 he had been training with the the volunteers of the Durham Light Infantry as a 2nd Lieutenant, and was called up to join the 7th Battalion in August, 1914. Not much is known of his military career, although he was promoted to Captan in 1915, and awarded the Military Cross in 1917. He survived the war, and died in Carlisle in 1963. |
