These details may be those of the same Frank Walsh who went to Westoe Secondary School, but there is no direct evidence other than a match in the military records on a relatively common or incomplete name.

Frank Walsh's father was John Walsh, born in Kidderminster, and Headmaster of St Bede's Catholic elementary school, Jarrow. His mother was Irish-born Teresa Walsh, and his younger brother was Edmund Clement Walsh, who was also at Westoe Secondary School, and who also served in the war.

Edmund's secondary education was mainly at St Cuthbert's Grammar School in Newcastle.

Frank was recruited to the Tyneside Irish Battalion in October, 1914.

Both he and his brother served with the Royal Artillery Medical Corps and, while serving as a stretcher bearers in France, both were awarded the Military Medal in July, 1917, for bravery in rescuing the wounded on the battlefield.

Little is known of Frank's life after the war, and he died in 1960 at the age of 72.
