LAIDLER, Frederick Charles

Frederick Charles Laidler was the son of house furnisher, also Frederick Charles Laidler, and his wife, Margaret Simon Laidler. Frederick junior entered Westoe Secondary School in 1907, leaving 16 months later to be a clerk, although intending to go to sea. However, by 1911 he was an apprentice draughtsman in the shipyards. He joined the Northumberland Fusiliers as Private, but was promoted to Corporal, and servied in France and Flanders, where he was killed in action on 7-Jul-1916. |
