|||
Stanley Dalziel was born in December, 1889, to local surgeon, William Dalziel, and was one of four brothers Charles Sutherland, William, James and Stanley himself) who went to the High School and fought in the war. Stanley attended the High School from 1904 to 1911, and the school's records show that he left to go into poultry farming. He initially served with the 7th Battalion of the Yorkshire Infantry as a Private, and was then commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant with the Durham Light Infantry. At some point he suffered badly from shellshock. He then served as Captain with the Labour Corps. Not much else is known, although he believed to have died in Northumberland in 1964. |
