BLACKWOOD, Charles Stanley

Charles Stanley Blackwood was the son of Coal Merchant, Charles Henry, and Isabella Blackwood. He joined the High School in 1900, and left in 1904. By 1911 his father had become an accountant to a General Merchant "in coal, slag, glass" and so on. Charles's service was as a 2nd Lieutenant with the Durham Light Infantry. He survived the war, and became an accountant himself in the partnership of "Snowdon & Blackwood" of King St, South Shields During the Second World War, Charles served in the 7th Battalion of the Durham Home Guard. He survived the war, and died in 1975. |
