George Baser was born in Nov-1890, son of marine Engineer, William Baser and Hannah Baser.

He left the High School in 1906, and trained to be a marine engineer. He served an apprenticeship at the Wallsend Slipway Engineering Works, and graduated from Armstrong College, Newcastle.

His next step was to go to sea to get his Board of Trade Certificate, but this was cut short when war broke out and he served with the Royal Engineers in France for a while.

However, he suffered ill-health and was honourably discharged, later to be recommissioned as a lieutenant, and was appointed to the the War Office, London Dictrict, as an assistant inspector.

Following the war he lectured at Cambridge University to wounded soldiers, and in 1919 was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.

Later that year he joined the staff of Swansea Technical College as an assistant lecturer in engineering, and in 1927 moved to lecture at Wandsworth Technical Institute.

George Baser died in London on 14-Nov-1930.
