ARCHER, Thomas Henry
Thomas Henry Archer was born in Newcastle to local marine engineer, James Brown Archer, and his London-born wife, Emily. He joined the High School in February, 1896, as a Corporation Scholar, and left at the end of 1898 to join the Civil Service. Thomas's mother moved back to her roots in London, and by 1911 was living in Harringay. Thomas also moved to London where, in 1909, he married Ethel Mary Walters. He joined the Prince of Wales' Own Civil Service Rifles, and was killed in action, almost certainly in the Somme, on 7-Oct-1916. He is remembered at the Thiepval Memorial. |
