Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools, David Bell, published his annual report
for the academic year 2001/2. In his report he has identified a number of particularly successful
schools (566 Secondary Schools were inspected - 83 have been identified as particularly successful
schools). Harton School has perfomed well in national tests and examinations, given the circumstances
of the school. Harton School received an outstanding inspection report. Therefore Harton has been
named as a "particularly successful school".
Former pupil, and now school governor, Scott Duffy, said:
"This is fantastic news, and shows the dedication of the staff and parents
of the school. It also realises the superb commitment and behaviour of the young people at Harton,
who are utilising the facilities offered to them.
"As a former pupil, like many who have logged onto this site, I'm sure they
share in the pride of Harton. Everybody who has had any involvement with Harton knows how good
the school is - but it is even better to be told by David Bell, Her Majesty's Chief Inspector
of School."
