"Flash" McGlasham went to Ocean Road Elementary
from 1926 to 1931, and then to Westoe Central School
until 1935. However, it wasn't until over twenty years later
that he attended the City of Leeds Technical College
to do a one-year course in Handicrafts, leaving in 1958 with
his Ministry of Education Certificate.
He also gained his City and Guilds Sheet Metal Worker's certificate, and his C&G
Teachers Certificate in Metalwork and Woodwork, although where and when is not recorded.
His first teaching post was at Whickham View Secondary
Modern, in Newcastle, which he left in 1958. He joined
the staff of the South Shields Grammar Technical School
for Boys in 1961, where he remained until his retirement
in 1984.
Mr McGlasham died in November, 1997.
