George Carr left Ryhope Grammar School in 1932, but didn't go on to further
education until June, 1949, when he attended Brincliffe Training College, Sheffield,
for a year. He left with his City and Guilds Teacher's Certificate for Woodwork, and
his Ministry of Education Teacher's Certificate for Technical Subjects.
He went to teach woodwork at Ford Modern School in September, 1950, where
he stayed for nearly seven years, picking up his C&G Teacher's Certificate for
Metalwork in 1953.
In May, 1957, he moved to Castletown Modern School, and in January, 1959,
to the South Shields Grammar Technical School for Boys.
Mr Carr died suddenly in June, 1968.
