  Welcome to the Guestbook
Feel free to add messages relating to the site and the school. The only rules are: real names only, no personal attacks and no unrelated messages (inappropriate messages may be edited/withdrawn without warning).
It would be appreciated if you gave an email address, where you now live and said when you were at the school, but you don't have to.
Plase note that if you click on an email address below you will need to replace ~DOT~ with . and ~AT~ with @ in your email program. The Guestbook presents these this way to avoid email address harvesters collecting your email addresses from the page. I know it's a pain, but it's very much better than the alternative.

Congratulations Tom Pidcock (GB) for his sensational victory on legendary `Alpe
D´Huez´ on Bastille Day. Historical as youngest at 22 years of age. Daring descent at speed of 101.5 Km./H. Bravo!

Spectacular scenery viz. St. Peter´s churchyard to the left & Petrol Station to the right as then & now!

`DANCES WITH WHEELS´

Bike on the climb to St. Peter´s church,
Out of the saddle without hint of lurch.
`Dancing´ to school on Moor Lane,
Tapping out freedom and all to gain.

The Tour of France appeals to many people for the spectacular scenery televised from a helicopter. Next the legendary `Col du Granon´ as the brave riders `Reach for the Sky´.

Further to Alex's information concerning the sponsorship of Hillary Clinton's lecture evening at our old school, and Mike's details of the event itself, I (actually my better half) did a quick check on Ms Clinton's entry on the fount of all knowledge to discover that she was spotted enjoying a cod and chips supper at Coleman's emporium during her visit.

Good afternoon, Mike & Everyone,

Thanks to Rugby School where in 1823, local lad William Webb Ellis, `took the ball in his arms and ran with it thus originating the game of rugby football´.

The number of players in 1839 were `School House´ 75 versus `The Rest´ 225.
(Film, `Tom Brown´s Schooldays´ 1951 via You Tube). Confirmed!

My only `reward´ was a broken nose inflicted by a `bully´ opponent when I was foolish & offered to play `Hooker´ for the first & last time! Nowadays they are so weak they need help to get their feet off the ground in a `Lineout´!

`Sandancer´- `Geordieland´.

All this talk of football recently brought to mind a couple of memories.

For whatever reason in my time at the school it was not noted as a particularly good sporting establishment. One or two good rugby players that I remember but nobody really outstanding.

I do recall the cricket match between the Staff and the boys (mainly sixth-formers) when "Pop" Lucas always turned out in his ancient whites

Another memory of those days was attending the home games at Roker Park when Sunderland AFC were still a power in the First Division. Bus fare from SS was 4 (old) pence - ie 4d - and admission for boys to the ground was either sixpence or Ninepence.

Good afternoon, Mike & Everyone

Newcastle Utd. newly crowned richest club in the world

England & the Magpies should return to Kevin Keegan´s philosophy as seen with the cricket team and entertain the fans instead of boredom. Thanks, Kevin!

Only one team relegated / promoted each season to allay `negative´ tactics in pursuit of points at any cost.

We are well for the World Cup as seen by yesterday´s England 3, Belgium 0 result!

Cheers! `Sandancer´- `Geordieland´.
